Dobbo's Challenge - the results are in!

You may recall that, just before Christmas, I gave my sewing friends a challenge (it's becoming a tradition!) - they were given this picture as a starting point to inspire them.  The finished piece had to be A4 in size, submitted today and would be displayed in our church next August for our Fabric Festival.

I was staggered by the response!I think that its true to say that we all pushed ourselves to try something different!  The entries were laid out and voting took place by putting 3p, 2p or 1p in te glass next to our personal 1st, 2nd or third choices.  When the money was added up, the clear winner was Terry,

followed by Pat in second place

and another Pat in third place.

Thank you to everyone who had a go. xx

Today was our Scamblesby meeting and we decided to hold a bit of a workshop - Terry and I helping some of the others to make the sew organised bag that we made a couple of weeks ago.  Of course everyone made different progress with one going home to do some finishing hand stitching whilst another will need more time at our next meeting.  However they were all really pleased with their efforts!

Meanwhile Pat went home early - she had forgotten everything that she needed! - Lyn was doing some "scrapbusting", making quilting blocks and Pat was using some previously made blocks to make a lovely shopping bag.

Me?  Well, in-between helping the others, I made a bag for Wendy's birthday present (she knows that she's getting one and has chosen the fabric so its not giving anything away).  Just some handsewing to go - the story of my life!

At lunchtime the discussion turned to the sewing retreat and this time last week.  It will come as no surprise to learn that we have booked again for November - with some of us already knowing what projects they intend to do!

Tonight I am starting on this month's UFO - the Lynette Anderson bag from the workshop last year - so that's 195 hexagons to sew together then!
