Ladies that lunch!!

Is it only me but does a squared up house make you feel better?  Today was another lie in followed by some tidying, cleaning and hovering.  As you will recall when I moved the dresser there was an awful mess behind.  This has now been sorted and the floor scrubbed - and a new area has emerged.  For now I am planning to move the dogs bed but it would make a nice little are for a small table in the kitchen - useful in the winter when the conservatory is too cold and I don't want to turn the heating on just to eat a meal.  Mind you - I did not have to work alone - Millie decided to help me by breaking some glasses that had come out of the dresser and had been stored on the table - she ran into the leg of the table!!  How helpful of her to solve a storage problem - that's right, my next problem is fitting everything back in and giving away what I don't need.

Next was a quick bit of sewing - its my stitch and sew group tonight and I want to use my light box to start on a Lynette Anderson cushion kit that I have had for a year - now is the time to use it!  The pattern calls for the front of the cushion to be sewn together before doing the hand stitching and applique so I'd better get started.

I guess that the tide's out.

This afternoon saw some shopping tasks before meeting up with an ex colleague who retired last August for a coffee and a crepe - I am rapidly turning into one of those ladies who lunch!  Of course I had to take a short walk - I was at the seaside after all.  Cleethorpes is getting ready for its armed forces day - hence the flags.

I also treated myself to a new cushion - far too expensive and, of course I could have made it myself but..........

Last night saw the last three challenges for this year (although several more have come in that I might justtag onto the end for fun!).  My patchwork group challenged me to make something with pumpkin seeds so I thought I might just try this for next week's meeting.  Its a beetroot seed cake and looks fun.  Mind you - I won't be grating the beetroot by hand!!

  2. What an great time you look to be having :) Its great this retirement lark isn't it! Can you feel the stress dropping off your shoulders? I love pumpkin seeds and add them to lots of things...but having tried beetroot cake once...I was not keen on the texture of the lumps of beetroot! If yours is grated finely..and definitely NOT by hand, then I may give it a go...depending on what your group think of it of course!

  3. Reality.....what reality....the reality that you are now dancing to your own tune...no more unrealistic expectations....no more doing your best but your best isn't what they want....THIS is reality....spending each day doing things you want to with people you want to be with and with people who appreciate you. I would say make the most of now....retirement will get busier I assure you!
