Don't sweat the small stuff!

With the wind howling and the rain lashing - I could only begin to imagine how terrifying the recent hurricane activity must have been.  Needless to say my thoughts are with everyone involved and hope that you are all keeping safe.  In deepest Lincolnshire - the weather today was not good (although it did brighten up a little later on) - so what's my rule?  Bad weather = sewing - yay!!

First up was finishing off, and cutting to size the third block from my textile group.  We should have returned from our summer holiday today but there was not enough attendees to make it viable so we deferred until next week.  Phew - more time to get sorted.  Consequently I then started to prepare the fourth and final block - ready for its applique later on.

Next up was a stern talking to my new BFF.  You may recall that, yesterday, she kept breaking the thread.  It turns out that I had reduced the imported design too much and she just couldn't cope.  Today I tried her with a small design hat I had created - and she purred like a kitten as she danced around the fabric.  In fact - at one point I was sewing on my machine whilst she was embroidering and, suddenly, my humble little spare bedroom felt like a real craft room!  (No - not like a sweat shop as implied in the blog title!)

With the ran stopped, I popped out to pick up my pre-ordered prescription (I love this system - order your medication and collect it at your leisure) and took the opportunity to visit my local farm shop.  I am trying to introduce Mum and Dad to different locations for fresh food and have bought this selection of veg for them to try - Not a bad haul for around £7.

Back home, and after a general tidy around, it was time to go  out again to Slimming World.  One of the friends I go with has been having a real wobble over the past few weeks and I felt that she was on the point of giving up.  So I was delighted to get a message last night to say that she would meet me there and face the music.  Since I had been fairly good this week, I was hoping to see the back of the wedding weight - or, at least, most of it!  As it was I managed to lose 6 pounds and was slimmer of the week - yay!!!  I am now 18 pounds away from my first target and have 56 days to achieve it - just over 2 lbs per week!!
