Take time to count your blessings.

I could tell you that, today, I had my haircut, did some shopping, popped into mum's and then wrapped those nine birthday gifts for the WI meeting.

I could even tell you about Janet Clare's new Block of the month or this really cute free Block of the month for a Christmas quilt that I fancy starting.

But I just want a moment of your time to alert you to a phone-in caller on the Jeremy Vine show yesterday who really made me think.  The lady phoned in to talk about the policeman's call to prosecute everyone who broke the speed limit - even by just 1mph.  We had already heard from an expert that the technology could not be that accurate and one person had phoned in to say that we shouldn't prosecute everyone anyway - no matter what their speed was - on an empty motorway in the middle of the night, for example.  This lady then spoke about her young seven year old son who was killed by a speeding motorcyclist in 1987.  He was outside his school - and his 14 year old brother was critically injured.  Her husband could not cope with the loss of his young son and took his own life.  The 14 year old grew up, trying to deal with his injuries and loss - eventually taking his own life.  She had an older son who could not deal with all of this and took his own life as well.  The poor lady had gone from a family of five to a family of one -herself.  It was so sad - a moment of thoughtlessness had wiped out a family.

I have no answer but just wanted to say to everyone - take time to celebrate those you love.  You just never know what is around the corner. x
