A moochy kind of day

I had planned to go out today but for a variety of reasons that didn't happen.  Combined with a niggling toothache and overcast skies - plus workmen working outside my house looking for some kind of electrical issue - today rapidly turned into a moochy kind of day.  I had stayed up last night to watch Question Time and yet was awoken by Katie's barking alarm call at 6:15am - so I was extra tired - yet the drilling and banging was not conducive to a quick nap.  So - there was nothing for it - I needed a pick me up - it was time to nip out to the local farm shop.  there is nothing that quite lifts my spirits like seeing the large strawberry and a PYO sign underneath.  Whilst I do not pick my own, I certainly enjoy their strawberries and the sign signals a few weeks of beautiful strawberries for breakfast, dinner and tea - I can feel regular visits coming on!

I also took the opportunity to nip upstairs and admire my new roof.  I am not an expert on such matters - but, quite frankly, as long as it keeps the water out then that's okay by me.  The fact that it looks a neat and tidy job is encouraging.

So this afternoon ( I told you that I hadn't done much at all!)  I watched tv whilst working on yesterday's table runner.  There was hand sewing to be completed before we could get to the assembling stage so I thought that I would take advantage of my mood.  I say "watched TV" - but the workmen outside packed up at lunchtime so my eyes may have closed!  I couldn't in all honestly tell you what was on - just that there was noise coming from the television!

By now it was time to feed the dogs and make tea - and that's another day over.  Hardly the most exciting day of all but sometimes life just throws you these curveballs and you just roll with them.  I am out both days over the weekend so appreciate these "stay at home " days - albeit I would like to achieve a little bit more than a bit of hand sewing!!!!!

Food wise, this has been a good day, however.  I had a sausage sandwich (Low fat of course and wholemeal roll), a mug shot for lunch along with strawberries and yoghurt for afters.  Dinner will be the remains of the French style country chicken with veg and a jacket potato - along wit strawberries and yoghurt for afters.  With a snack of Velvet crisps (4 syns / 86 calories) this morning, the food has been bang on plan - so I am feeling smug!!  My personal challenge this week is to write everything that I eat and drink down onto a food diary so that I keep better track of my intake.

Hope that everyone has had a good day and a great week.  Enjoy the weekend x

  1. Those strawberries look yummy!! You could have bought more and made some SW desserts with them. I know you said that you are getting rid of your large freezer so maybe now is not the time to make things that have to be frozen. I like moochy days but the feel guilty when I go to bed because I don't feel as though I have achieved much, however those 'moochy' jobs all need to be done sometime.xx

  2. What about Sunday!! Oh dear you won't have enough!!xx. Talking of strawberries, I have just had a phone call from my cousin ( it was a rather long phone call ). She was enquiring about my present husband, which was very nice of her. I had to tell her that he was fine and at that moment was a couple of rungs up a step ladder painting a ceiling !!!xx

  3. Moochy days just have to be done! Not good news on the toothache, is a visit to the dentist on the cards?
I love to go strawberry picking, means you can eat some on the way! There is usually an honesty box on the way out for delicate consciences!
    Roof looking good.

Did you know ... a whole punnet of Strawberries is just 80 calories ... so surely if you actually PYO then they would be calorie neutral!!!
